Changing which number will be used to send messages unless you choose a different number before sending.

The number of phone numbers you see and your ability to manage them depends on your PastorsLine role.

Step 1: Log in to PastorsLine.

Click on your thumbnail image / icon / initials in the bottom, left-hand corner of your screen (gold #2 in image above).

The Numbers page will open.

Your next click depends on your role AND your goal. Let's begin...

Your role is User or Restricted User.

You want to change your primary/default number from your assigned number to the PastorsLine shared short code or vice versa.

[By the way, that is all you can do as a result of the permissions in your role. If you want to change your assigned number, you need to get in touch with your admin.]

Choose My Numbers from the User Settings menu.

Then, click here for your next steps.

Your role is Admin or Owner.

You want to change your primary/default number from your assigned number to the PastorsLine shared short code or vice versa.

Follow the steps for User/Restricted User in the line above.

Your role is Admin.

You want to change a user's (or your) assigned number.

Note: If you want to change YOUR assigned number, the method listed for Owners (last line in this table) might be quicker.

Click on Admin Settings (brown box + 3 in main image above this table). Choose Users.

Then click here for your next steps.

Your role is Owner.

You want to change a user's assigned number.

Follow the steps for Admin in the line above.

CHANGING YOUR PRIMARY/DEFAULT NUMBER FROM YOUR ASSIGNED NUMBER TO THE PL SHARED SHORT CODE OR VICE VERSA

Users and Restricted Users will see 3 numbers:

  • Their assigned number (note the purple Assigned in the image above)

  • The PastorsLine shared short code [77411]

  • The PastorsLine shared high-throughput, verified, toll-free number [1-833-444-2101]

Owners and Admins will see more numbers.

In any case...

Just above your numbers is a toggle button.

If the toggle button is off (greyed out as in image to the left), messages will be sent via your assigned number unless you choose another number just before sending.

If the toggle button is on (purple as in image to the left), messages will be sent via the PastorsLine shared short code unless you choose another number just before sending.

To choose a different number just before sending a message, go to STEP 6 in this article.


CHANGING AN ASSIGNED NUMBER (for a user or for an admin)

Step 1: Scroll down until you see the user (including yourself if you are an admin) for whom you wish to change the assigned number. We will do an example with Care Team (turquoise box in image below).

Step 2: Hover over the user line until you see the Action Menu (3 dots, turquoise box in image below). Click on it.

Step 3: Choose Edit User from the menu options.

The User info box will pop up.

Step 4: Scroll down until you see Assigned Default Number. Hover over this line until the purple Edit appears. Click on it.

Step 5: Click on the new assigned number from the options available. Note that more than one person can be assigned the same number.

Step 6: Click the purple Save to complete your action.


CHANGING AN ASSIGNED NUMBER (for an owner or for an admin)

Step 1: Hover on the line of your assigned number (gold arrow in image below). The Action Menu will appear at the right-hand end of the line (3 dots, turquoise box in image below). Click on it.

Step 2: From the menu, click on Choose a different Assigned Number.

Step 3:

Click on the number you wish to be your new assigned number.

If you have a long list of numbers, use the Search bar to find it more quickly. You need to type in part (or all) of the number. The search does not work with text or names, just numbers.

Click the purple Confirm button to save your changes.
