V3: How do I add my First-time Guests into one of my Automated Messages Campaigns (AMC)?

Need to add first-time visitors into an AMC? Here's how.

At the moment, there are 5 ways to add a first-time guest into an AMC.

Add by Keyword = When someone texts a keyword, they would be put into the AMC. People who text in the keyword will not be added to any group UNLESS there is a group set up with that same keyword.
NOTE: Currently, we don't recommend using the keyword associated directly with the AMC. You can use keywords related to a Data Capture (DC), and then have that linked to the AMC. Read more here.

Add by Data Capture = When someone texts a keyword, they go through the data capture process, and then are automatically added to the AMC. People who text in the keyword will be added to the relevant group, data capture, and your AMC. *this is the trigger we recommend using in most cases

Add by Group = If using the “Trigger by group” trigger in your AMC, any time you add someone NEW to the group selected, they will also be added to the AMC. *Please note if there are contacts in the group BEFORE you set up this trigger by group option in the AMC, they will NOT be added to the AMC. Only NEW contacts added to the group after this trigger is set up will be added to the AMC.

Add by Integration = This is the same as using the group trigger. You could add someone to a synced group, and once PastorsLine (PL) synced with your app, anyone who was added as a NEW member to the PL group would also be added to the AMC.

Add Manually = You can add people manually to an AMC by clicking the Add Contact icon (a red profile of a person with a plus sign) next to the AMC. You can add individuals or whole groups.

To add by keyword, data capture, and/or group

STEP 1

Go to your Campaigns page:

OPTION 1

Click on Campaigns (lighting bolt icon, turquoise box in image below).

OPTION 2

From your Dashboard, in the Add New section (turquoise box in image below), click on Campaign.

Step 2

On the Campaigns page, click on Create New Campaign and select Create Automated Messages.

The Create an Automated Messages Campaign box will pop up.

STEP 3

Enter a campaign name (gold circle in image above) and click Next (brown arrow in image above).

You will get the Automated Messages page for adding a new AMC.

STEP 4

Click on Edit Triggers (pencil icon, gold circle in image above) and the Edit Triggers box will pop up (image below).

There are three options displayed here as triggers for your AMC:

  1. Trigger by Data Capture (purple box in image above)

  2. Trigger by Group (brown arrow in image above)

  3. Use Keyword (gold box in image above)

We recommend Trigger by Data Capture or Trigger by Group (green box).

We do not recommend Use Keyword. Here's why: In this option, a keyword directly attached to your AMC will trigger the process. At the moment, using this option can mean a lag time of up to 3 minutes for the first message. If this first message is a critical, text auto-reply, this may not be desirable.

STEP 5

Choose your trigger(s) and click Save (brown circle in image above).
