Are you seeing strange, jumbled messages like this in your inbox showing sent from your number?

Why is this happening??

This is typically caused when a user assigned to your account has an auto "out of office" type reply for their email on.

Depending on each user's notification settings, when a contact texts your number with something other than a keyword or response related to a campaign (an "off" message), each user assigned to that number will get either an email notification or a text to their personal mobile phone.

You can reply to those "off" texts through email (however, we don't recommend it unless it's an emergency).  In order to reply to a text via email, you would need to delete ALL of the previous history before replying via email. It would need to be a totally blank email before responding. Otherwise, the entire email history will be sent as well.

If a user has their notifications set to "email", if they have an "out of office" email reply set up, and if a contact texts an "off" message, then the user will receive an email notification to let them know an "off" message has been received. Once they receive that email, their "out of office" reply would kick in and reply to that person through PastorsLine with their "out of office" message. This message comes across as a jumbled, nonsense type text like the one shown above.

How do I keep this from happening in the future?

In order to keep this from happening in the future, make sure the user turns OFF their notifications in their user notification settings while they are out of office or on leave.

  1. The user needs to log into their account

  2. Click your name in the top right corner of the screen.

    3. Select "Notifications"

    4. Toggle your email alerts to "off"

    5. Click "Update"
