Today, mobile phones and texting make sense. In the US, more than 85% of the population owns a mobile phone, making them a big part of the more than 5 BILLION mobile phones being used world-wide. People tend to open their text messages: of the 97% that were opened, 83% of them were opened within 60 minutes. (Email has a low 20% open rate.) Overall, when considering all the benefits and options, texting is relatively high impact, low cost and low maintenance.
